You don't have to be "artsy" to enjoy fine paintings.

Art in Le Village, a program of Groupe Renaissance Group, is making original pieces of work available to Cornwall Residents.

"Now anyone could be exposed to fine art rather than having to go to a museum," said Denise Robinson, Renaissance public relations officer.

Groupe Renaissance Group, to fulfill part of its mandate of economically and socially developing the Le Village business area and surrounding residential region created Art in Le Village.

The program recently received five pieces from noted Vankleek Hill - based artist Susan Jephcott, the second artist in a series, which hopes to promote one artist per month.

The first artist was Cornwall's Ken MacLennan, a retired superintendent of education. What is needed now, Robinson said, are business owners to display the pieces somewhere in their stores or offices.

The artwork can be viewed at the Renaissance office at 155 Montreal Rd., which has spotlights installed at the front to display them. Jephcott's loan includes two large works, "September Flag" and "September Steel," which were inspired by the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the US.

Three small submissions are "Road Kill 401 Moose," "Slave Tags" and "Sea Shadows." Each Piece is loaned to Renaissance Groupe, although most are available for purchase.
